When we were trying to get to Cherbourg last year, the current was against us as we passed Alderney, and we were tempted then to duck into its anchorage. That's one of the reasons we wanted to stop there this year.

Alderney is a rocky island, and the town of St. Anne is pretty with lots of stone houses. The anchorage does get swell, but it's secure and sheltered from most of the wind. We didn't do much in Alderney: walked to town, had a pint of ale, and visited the local yacht club for happy hour.
