Victor Hugo spent the reign of Napoleon III in exile, much of it on Guernsey where he bought and furnished a large house for his family and guests. Now the house is a museum owned by the City of Paris.

It's an amazing place. Our guide explained that everything in the house has meaning. For example, the dark ground floor represents the practical side of life. The light top floor is the spiritual side.

The views are awesome too. "Hugo was a romantic author, and nature was very important to him."
