The marina (Marina Bouregreg) is on the Salé side of the river that divides Rabat, which is the capital of Morocco and relatively westernized, from the older, more traditional Salé. We explored both sides. Parts of Rabat are quite beautiful, and parts of Salé are achingly poor. The marina makes a good base for exploring a bit more of the country of Morocco since the train station in Salé is within walking distance (but take a taxi at night). From here we visited Fez and Casablanca by train.
