Grenada, West Indies (Jan. – Feb. 2011)
When the wind and waves settled down a little, three of the boats who had crossed from Mindelo at the same time headed for Grenada: Solstice, Jinja, and Free Spirit. From our base in Prickly Bay, Jinja quickly arranged a tour of the Spice Island: Grenada. Besides the beautiful island views, we visited a nutmeg co-op, a waterfall, a cocoa estate, a rum distillery, and the rain forest and ate local specialties for lunch. John moved Solstice to a Med-moor slip at the Grenada Yacht Club for the time that Shirlee was in Portland visiting family. From there he had a great view of the wild life and captured the great shots of a greenback heron fishing.
