It's like another world as you follow the Krka River (pronounced something like "crick a") from the city of Šibenik through limestone gorges to the town of Skradin. You're still close to the Adriatic, and the river has little if any current, so there isn't much change in elevation, but it feels as if you're in the mountains.
The detour up the river was definitely worth it, even if we hadn't gone to see the waterfalls, which, of course, we did.
