There are two prehistoric (Talaiotic) archeological sites very near Mahó. You can walk to the ruins at Trepucó, but take a taxi to get to Talatí de Dalt. Talatí de Dalt, a whole settlement, is especially impressive. The houses were built of stones stacked up to make walls with huge, flat slabs of rock for roofs. You have to wonder how people managed to build those structures three thousand years ago. John started whistling the theme for the Flintstones while we were there, and, well, it fits.
