Nazaré has a big fishing harbor with a tiny yacht marina a little way out of town. The town of Nazaré is on two levels connected by a funicular: on the beach and atop the cliff. Each has its charms.

We loved the narrow alleys of the lower town and the fish drying on the beach. The views from the upper town (called Sitio) are spectacular. And the local church/shrine exhibits typical Portuguese splendor.
