Ostia Antica (near Rome), Italy (June 2010)
Ostia Antica is the remains of Rome's ancient port and the source of many of the mosaics in the Vatican Museum. Our Palatine Hill guide recommended it as an alternative to Pompeii, and we're glad she did. Wandering along the old streets of an active archeological site was very special, and we were grateful for the shade of the many trees.
