Vulcano is a small island made up of three volcanoes. Of these, the active one is the smallest. We rented a car to see the whole island, and the views were pretty incredible as we went over the higher peaks.
Back in town we checked out the mud bathes.
There's a trail to the rim of the active volcano, and we walked it at sunset. It took about an hour from the bottom (where they charge 3€ each) to the top. It was still hot, and very steep in places, but it was worth it, primarily for the views. Plumes of toxic gas don't appeal to one of us.
